Snapshot of history

  • Update:  WGCL produced the story below in the fall of 2007.
  • When the “whole” story is still a work-in-progress, then sometimes a snapshot of the story is instructive.  The DeKalb Co. PD has been a basket case, to varying degrees, for many years.  The weird hiring of Terrell Bolton as its chief, who succeeded the sometimes-reckless Lou Graham, left the department uneasy.  So hats off to Harry Samler at CBS-46 for this odd snapshot of Bolton and his tentative relationship with the county that hired him:Samler does a laudable job of following up, and it’s classic: Rather than trying to figure out a) why the chief lives in an RV in Stone Mountain Park in b) an RV stripped of county tags, the county launches an investigation into who leaked the story! But did Samler miss an important part of the story? A new blog for disgruntled DeKalb cops suggests that Chief Bolton has been living in a county-owned RV. And his family still lives in Dallas. Maybe the family feels safer there.

When he lived in Dallas, he kept an RV in a rented space in southern Dallas county. Supposedly this was his “love nest” where he entertained women other than his wife. In fact, he got his female driver pregnant twice, after alleged trysts in that RV. I think he still has a family in Mississippi he pays child support to, plus a family in Dallas, plus, the ex-driver and her two children. What a busy man!

  4. Now you know why we got rid of him in Dallas. Don’t fire him, or he will cry to reporters and sue DeKalb County! Don’t send him back here, or we will be forced to send you our District Attorney. He has a propensity to crash County vehicles into his own house!

We will pray for you in DeKalb County. All the officers who have to put up with Terrell Bolton. The Former mayor of Dallas labeled him, “that Idiot’ after we finally got rid of him. Looks like Vernon Jones needs to be asked why he would hire such a man with a sordid past.

Dallas’ loss is your gain. He’s not very good at solving crimes or building morale, but he is entertaining.

We sent warning letters but he was hired anyway. Maybe someone needs to look into hiring guidelines and who actually hired him……maybe someone of the same persuasion?????????

The hits from him will just keep coming because he is blessed with overconfidence in his intellect and abilities while being inept at managing his people. When he became DPD chief everyone wanted him to do well since he was the first black to hold that position. Took him no time to lose everyones support, confidence, get himself fired.

Bolton caused Dallas nothing but trouble, cost our city huge amounts of money with his mismanagement and later his lawsuit, and was a complete total farce. When things did not go his way, he cried like a baby on TV. I don’t mind a sensitive police officer, but sure do not want one who breaks down like a little girl. I genuinely feel sorry for the citizens and police officers of GA. But, you have been warned, he is going to cost you money, credibility, and compromise safety.

Bolton (AKA, Bozo The Clown) is a one-man wrecking crew. He effectively eviscerated a good department in Dallas, forcing dozens of good, dependable, experienced officers to resign or retire in disgust. The taxpayers have still not recovered from his inept, arrogant mismanagement. The fool who hired him in GA should be run out of town. You will be paying for this reckless decision for years…..
