Now… given… not until Palin hit the scene… was their any news in Alaska that would warrant a photog needing to extend their talents beyond the occasional feature story? you gotta fill the news cast in Nome with something!..(.a 5:00 slo mo beauty shot of the sunset helps!)

This said… really… Jensen shouldve adjusted the shot. It’s a great piece of tape… surely… but does it add or distract from the story. Video JOURNALIST is someone who knows what the story is…. Is this about turkey killing? if it was… then awesome.. if it wasnt… good god man… use that zoom. Frame it. I learned along time ago in the news biz (yes… i’m not in “it” anymore… so this arm chair i’m quarter backing from feels so nice!)… never give anyone any piece of tape you don’t want to have yr name on. I’ve heard the complaints about shakey video …”The editor just took the first three shots!”… well… make sure yr raw tape starts off with the best shots. Think before you roll. In this case… Jensen’s framing has become a YouTube hit.. rather than a story he was out to cover.

of course… in the long run… it think that turkey got a better treatment than what Palin did to McCain’s White House try.
